En el municipio, es la primera vez que una mujer da el Grito de Independencia. De forma original, la Alcaldesa de Cuquío dio un Grito distinto al tradicional y nombró a mujeres como Josefa Ortiz de Domínguez, Gertrudis Bocanegra y Leona Vicario, desde el balcón de la presidencia.
