El Instituto Mexicano de Normalización y Certificación dio su visto bueno a la certificación de las playas Garza Blanca, Palmares, Camarones y Amapas-Conchas Chinas por cumplir con los requisitos de sustentabilidad y de calidad. El primer edil, Ramón Guerrero Martínez, aseguró que el municipio buscará en el futuro la certificación de las playas de Mismaloya y Holly.
